Other Ways To Help
Children Teaching Children
The idea for this program was conceived in collaboration with a group of young ladies who had recently left Dampura School but were very upset at not being allowed by their parents to travel out of the village, to further vocational training.
The reason for some parents not allowing primarily their daughter to travel is the fear that they will fall into the wrong company. Unfortunately, this kind of thinking is common in small villages and would take a generation to change.
Children teaching Children engages individuals from our child sponsorship program undertaking vocational training such as seamstresses, beauticians etc. to return to school premises once a week to teach those not allowed to travel.
The school premises and teachers are seen by parents as a safe environment and in this way, we are able to give everyone an opportunity to continue development and hope for a better future.
Parents have approved this approach and are fully supportive.

School Breakfast
We have known for some time that some parents send their children to Dampura School primarily so they receive one cooked meal a day. Many families are unable to provide their children with any food before this which means they start school without having breakfast.
Without nutrition at the start of the day, children have very low energy levels and often are falling asleep in class.
Fortunately, the government recognise this and provide children in some schools with breakfast of boiled chickpeas twice a week.
It is not expected that children will receive any more than this due to a lack of Government funding which means the go hungry for the remaining four days of the week.
CFDC will provide breakfast for another two days a week to over 280 children, but this still leaves two days unfunded.
How can you help?
You can help us continue to provide all the children at Dampura School breakfast for the reminder of the week by donating.
Food Parcels
We have identified several families within Dampura village who are unable to afford essential food supplies. It is a terrible situation to be in and in such a small village, the social stigma is harsh.
In some instances, neighbours and friends have tried to support these families but they themselves have very little to share.
CFDC are providing the poorest families with key essential food supplies once a quarter, consisting of wheat, rice, dhal, oil, tea and sugar but this is limited by our funding.
How can you help?
You can help us continue to provide more food parcels to the poorest families by donating £100 a year for an entire family.
