Period Poverty

Period Poverty

Period poverty is now recognised as a global issue and even more so in countries such as India where sanitary pads are seen as a luxury item.

Many of the young ladies in Dampura and surrounding villages use pieces of material to manage this, which can and does lead to infections due to a lack of hot water and detergent to clean the material.

Our Period Poverty program has partnered with another local charity who manufacture sanitary pads and will provide them to us at a discounted rate so we can give them free of charge to our ladies.

Sanitary pads will be supplied to over 200 young ladies at Dampura school and three other schools in the local area.

After a successful project in India 2015, CFDC have continued to work with Dampura School in 2016 to build a science laboratory and a maths classroom with help from many donors and volunteers.

Since our involvement, Dampura School has won a number of local and district awards and are proving to be a model school in the area. This is an admirable achievement and has only been possible through dedicated staff, volunteers and resources we have been able to provide.

How you can help?

You can help us continue to provide for sanitary pads to young ladies in the district by donating.
